2026 Scholarship Applications for Grads of a Maui high school Now Enrolled at University of Hawai'i Now Accepted.
Up to three currently enrolled UH students will receive $2500.
Deadline: Monday July 20, 2026.
Eligibility: Maui high school graduates currently accepted and enrolled with University of Hawai'i, any campus. Associates and Bachelor candidates eligible.
Note: This scholarship is not for 2026 high school graduates. That is a separate program. Our 2026 award went to 2026 Luna grad, Ethan Landes.
Applicants must be able to articulate how their past interests and career ambitions contribute to the maritime (ocean and related water ways) environment of West Maui and its residents. This is not just about sciences, there are so many ways to contribute to our maritime community.
Studies in related science, technology, emergency and protective services, arts, culture, communication, object design, marine veterinary, hospitality, public health, public administration are examples.
Download the application below and mail to the address provided. Applications received by August 1st are accepted for consideration.

2026 High School Winner
Ethan Landes, a high achieving 2026 graduating Luna, is planning to study civil engineering and was the unanimous choice for his ability to articulate how he planned to utilize his degree.
"The skillset I build in college will help me come up with preventative measures to ensure no disaster ever occurs again as damaging as the Lahaina wildfires, and will help me fix our water issues. I hope to be able to prevent damage to the already fragile ecosystem and promote the growth and comfort of people's lives."
As LMF Board member and Lahainaluna teacher Ashley Olsen stated about all our candidates this year: "[They] are smart, high achieving students and, frankly, the kind of people with whom you are happy to spend time."
Congratulations Ethan to you and the ohana that raised you to represent Maui so well!
2025 High School Winners
Our first Maui high school senior scholarship winners were Janice Yabo and Ella Forward.
Both of them received rave reviews from mentors, teachers and employers for their leadership, community dedication and focus.

Adult Business Education
We are offering repayment grants to qualified adult Maui residents who complete accredited maritime commercial classes such as celestial navigation, commercial captaining, ocean wayfaring, boating safety, water or ecological maintenance, ocean rescue or other appropriate EMT training. Contact us for more information.

Ocean Safety, Culture &
Skill Mastery Classes
We are currently reaching out to local organizations that support the work of masters of Polynesian and Euro-based wayfaring, navigation, maritime cultural practices, watercraft skill, craft mastery, oceanic and shoreline safety, and disaster response.
Our goal is to underwrite classes, extending their expertise to the public, building community, strength and resilience.
Donations to this program will support their livelihood, their organization's strength and our community aloha.
